Oboard alternatives: keep OKRs in Jira, or take them out

Facts checked October 27, 2026

People who run OKRs in Oboard usually made one decision early: goals belong where engineering already works, in Jira. Oboard's Jira app, listed on the Atlassian Marketplace as OKR in Jira, links key results to issues so progress moves when tickets do.

Leaving Oboard starts with the same question in reverse. Do you want to stay inside Atlassian, or move goals somewhere that sales, finance and operations will open too? This page splits the six alternatives along that line. Three live in or next to Jira; three sit outside it. Checked on October 27, 2026.

What pushes teams off Oboard

You pay for Jira users, not OKR users. Oboard's pricing FAQ says Cloud and Data Center apps are billed on the maximum number of Jira product users in your instance. A company with 400 Jira users and 30 people who set OKRs pays for 400.

The price went up this year. Oboard's March 5, 2026 post raised Standard by 20% and priced the new Advanced edition 20% above that. Its own example for 1,000 users was $1.08 per user per month on Standard and $1.28 on Advanced. Data Center prices rose a flat 30%.

Executives need a separate door. The executive portal for people who don't use Jira is an Advanced feature, with 10 seats included. So is the MCP connection for AI assistants.

Non-engineers drift away. When goals live inside a developer tool, the commercial side of the company often keeps its own spreadsheet. If that's happening, a Jira app may be the wrong home.

Oboard's strengths

The core idea works. Key results can be Jira issues, and progress updates from issue status, which removes most manual check-ins for engineering teams. Under 10 Jira users it's free, and the published range runs from $0.09 to $1.80 per Jira user per month, so large instances get a low unit price. Check-in reminders and an update feed go to Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord and email. The feature list includes an OKR map, a roadmap view, Confluence macros, PDF export of dashboards, and OKR export to Excel or CSV. The listing showed about 2,789 installs when we checked.

Six alternatives to Oboard

Atlassian Goals

The obvious first stop. Goals is a platform app that Atlassian includes at no additional cost for any customer with an Atlassian app, rolled out to all customers between April and May 2026. An admin grants access, and goals sit beside Jira work items and projects without a Marketplace bill. Slack and Teams updates come through the Atlassian Home app.

Know the limits. It isn't available on FedRAMP or Gov Cloud, and it isn't HIPAA-eligible. A goal can have one parent only. And you can't upload goals in bulk: ATLAS-141 is still open with 63 votes, so your Oboard export becomes manual typing. See our Atlassian Goals alternatives.

Jira Align

Only consider Jira Align if you were already heading toward scaled agile planning. Atlassian sells it inside the Strategy Collection with Focus and Talent, and the pricing page lists $77,400 a year for the 1 to 50 user tier, billed annually. It's Cloud only, requires Jira Cloud Premium or higher, and has no free trial. Seats are bought for the whole collection, and Rovo is included.

For an Oboard customer that's a far bigger bill, but it buys portfolio and program planning that Oboard doesn't try to do. Our Jira Align alternatives page covers it in depth.

Tability

Tability is for the company that wants engineering to keep its Jira link while everyone else uses a simpler tool. Its Basic plan costs $6 per user per month billed yearly, or $7 monthly, and the plan card lists Jira and Linear next to Slack and Teams. The pricing FAQ, though, says only Slack comes with Basic and other integrations need Premium, so confirm with Tability before you count on it. Each paid seat comes with 2 free read-only seats, so executives can follow along without the Jira portal that Oboard reserves for Advanced.

Moving in is easier than with most tools here. Export your Oboard workspace to CSV, then feed it to Tability's AI importer, which takes XLSX or CSV up to 10 MB and finds plans and key results without a template. It won't create users or teams for you. See our Tability alternatives.

Perdoo

Perdoo changes the billing logic: you pay for the people in Perdoo, not everyone in Jira. The pricing page lists a Free plan up to 5 users, Premium at €8.00 to €6.40 and Supreme at €10.00 to €8.00 per user per month, depending on team size. The catch for a Jira shop is that the Jira integration is on Supreme only, along with Linear, Salesforce and HubSpot.

Perdoo's importer has no Oboard option. Rework your CSV export into Perdoo's template, under 5 MB and 10,000 rows, or paste goals as text for its AI. History stays behind. Our Perdoo alternatives and Perdoo migration guide cover the details.

Weekdone

Weekdone pairs OKRs with weekly planning, which some engineering managers prefer to issue-level tracking. Its price list is free for up to 3 users. Above that, seats come in packages: $9 per user per month for 10 or 15 users, falling to $6 between 60 and 200, billed annually. Monthly billing costs 20% more.

Jira appears in the integration list next to Slack, Teams, Asana and Zapier, and data is held in the EU. A 14-day trial starts at 4 users. We didn't find a file importer, so goals come over by hand or through its API. See our Weekdone alternatives.

OKIAR

OKIAR is a deliberate break from Jira, so be clear about that. It has no Jira integration, and key results won't move when tickets close. People update them in a weekly check-in instead, which suits companies where most goal owners aren't engineers. The beta is free, with no credit card and no caps on objectives, key results, KPIs or team members, and there's no set end date. Okiar is already live today.

Your Oboard workspace CSV or filtered Excel export can go straight into goal import, up to 5 MB, helping you review people, teams and parent links. Expect to do that move yourself; OKIAR can offer migration help. Check-ins can arrive through Slack or Telegram, and an MCP server can create objectives, key results and KPIs, and update key result values. There's no Teams app.

Should you stay on Oboard?

Stay if most of your OKR owners work in Jira every day and you want progress to come from issue status. Nothing outside the Atlassian list above does that as directly, and Atlassian Goals can't import your existing set. Stay too if your Jira instance is large: per-user prices fall with scale, and at 1,000 users Oboard's own example is about a dollar a month per person. Reconsider when most goal owners aren't in Jira, or when your Jira user count is many times the number of people who set OKRs.

What you can take out of Oboard

The feature list describes two exports: OKRs with your current filters to Excel, or a whole workspace to CSV. Do the workspace export for each workspace before you uninstall. Issue keys come out as data, but the live link to Jira ends when the goals leave Jira. Bringing data into Oboard has been harder: a May 2024 support reply said OKR import wasn't possible, and we couldn't confirm whether that has changed. Our Oboard migration guide shows how to check a CSV before you import it.

Frequently asked questions

How is Oboard priced?

Per Jira user per month, $0.09 to $1.80, billed on the largest number of Jira product users in your instance. It's free up to 10 Jira users, with a one-month trial, and payment runs through Atlassian.

What is the cheapest Oboard alternative inside Atlassian?

Atlassian Goals, which comes at no additional cost with any Atlassian app. It has no bulk import, so plan to enter goals by hand.

Is Jira Align a replacement for Oboard?

Only for large enterprises. It starts at $77,400 a year for up to 50 users, requires Jira Cloud Premium and has no free trial.

Which alternatives connect to Jira?

Atlassian Goals and Jira Align natively. Tability lists Jira on its Basic card (its FAQ says Premium), Perdoo on Supreme, and Weekdone in its integrations. OKIAR has no Jira integration.

Can I export my goals from Oboard?

Yes. Filtered OKRs go to Excel, and a whole workspace goes to CSV. Run the export before you uninstall the app.
