Peoplebox migration: getting your goals out when there's no export button
Facts checked October 27, 2026
Peoplebox puts goals next to reviews, one-on-ones and engagement surveys, which is why it's hard to leave. Its help center explains how to bring goals in, in detail. We couldn't find an article on how to take them all out. This page is short for that reason. It lists the three routes we did find, says plainly where the documentation stops, and covers what to do with the goals once you have them.
Steps 1 and 2 work for any destination. Steps 3 to 5 cover OKIAR.
Before you start: what Peoplebox documents, and what it doesn't
Here is what we could confirm on October 27, 2026:
- No full goal export is documented. We searched the Peoplebox help center and found no article that exports every goal with owners, parents and cycles.
- There is an Activity Logs CSV. The admin settings article describes a log of goal changes under Settings, then Products, then Goals, then Activity Logs: "By exporting the CSV, you can view all these changes in a single sheet." That's a history of edits. It isn't a list of goals.
- AI assistants can read goals. Peoplebox's MCP article, updated October 20, 2026, lets Claude or Codex see goals in current, past and upcoming cycles, with progress, check-ins and comments. An admin has to switch it on first.
- The import template shows the data model. The CSV import guide lists every field a Peoplebox goal can carry. We use it below as a checklist for what to recover.
Peoplebox's developer repository on GitHub points to Postman documentation we couldn't open, so we haven't confirmed what its API returns.
Step 1: Pick a route out of Peoplebox
| Route | Who can use it | Format | What you get | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ask Peoplebox support | Your account owner | Whatever support sends | Unknown until you ask | The cleanest file, if they agree |
| MCP with an AI assistant | Anyone, once an admin turns it on | A table you ask the assistant to build | Goals you can see, with progress, check-ins and comments | Pulling this cycle's goals into a sheet |
| Activity Logs CSV | Admins, from Settings | CSV | A record of goal changes | An audit trail for your archive |
| Review cycle reports | Admins | A download link by email | Participation data, not goals | HR records only |
Ask support first
Write to Peoplebox support before your renewal date. Ask for one file of every goal in the cycles you care about, with title, owner email, parent goal, cycle, start, target and current values, and status. Naming the columns from their own import template helps. We don't know how quickly they answer or what format they use.
Use the MCP server to build the table yourself
The MCP route is the only self-serve way we found to see whole goals outside the app. An admin enables it under Settings, then Nova AI Settings, where it's off by default. You then add https://ai.peoplebox.ai/mcp to Claude or Codex as a connector. Peoplebox says the assistant sees only what you can see, and its sign-in token lasts 30 minutes, so work in short sessions.
Ask for one cycle at a time: "List every goal in the Q4 2026 cycle as a table with title, owner, parent goal, start value, target, current value and status." Paste each answer into a spreadsheet and save it as CSV. Assistants can drop rows from long answers, so count the rows against what Peoplebox shows.
Keep the Activity Logs CSV
Download it even though it won't rebuild your plan. It records who changed which goal and when, which is useful if anyone asks later why a target moved.
Step 2: Check what you recovered
Before you plan the move, work through this list:
- Count goals per cycle in your file and compare with the Goals page in Peoplebox.
- Make sure every child goal names its parent, since alignment is the first thing lost when a table is built by hand.
- Mark owners who have left. Peoplebox's own template identifies owners by email, so clean addresses save rework.
- Separate review data from goals. Review Cycle ID and Review Cycle Weightage belong to performance reviews, and OKR tools won't take them.
If you're going somewhere other than OKIAR
The suites on our Peoplebox alternatives page will take review history; OKR tools won't. Two goal importers we checked on October 27, 2026: Leapsome's Excel import has a parent goal column but needs parents to exist first, and 15Five's bulk import needs every owner to have a 15Five account before you upload.
Step 3: Load your goals into OKIAR
OKIAR's goal import, covered in the sign-up guide, reads a spreadsheet, CSV, PDF, Word, text or Markdown file of up to 5 MB. That matters here, because your Peoplebox data may arrive as a pasted table, a support email or a saved assistant answer. Import helps map people, teams and parent links for you to review and turns the file into a draft. Nothing is created until you've reviewed it.
- Create a free account. No card is needed, and the beta plan has no seat cap.
- Upload one cycle's file. If all you have is the assistant's answer, save it as a Markdown or text file and upload that.
- Go through the draft: titles, owners, start values, targets.
- Compare the teams it made with your Peoplebox departments, then invite people as Admin, Manager, Contributor or Viewer.
- Rebuild missing parent links by nesting objectives under the right company goal.
- Add key result weights where some results matter more than others. OKIAR supports weighting.
- Turn always-on numbers, like headcount or attrition, into KPIs.
- Connect Slack, then walk through the plan with each department head.
Where each Peoplebox field goes in OKIAR
| Peoplebox field | OKIAR | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Goal Title and Description | Objective or key result title and description | Which rows are goals and which are results |
| Owner Emails | Objective owners; extra owners are optional | People who have left |
| Parent Row IDs and Parent Goal IDs | Parent links between objectives | Children with no parent in the file |
| Scope (Individual, Department, Company) | The level of the objective, and its team | Individual goals you may not want to carry over |
| Departments | Teams | Department names that changed |
| Goal Cycle, Start Date and End Date | Period: quarter, year or a fiscal-quarter label | Cycles that don't line up with quarters |
| Goal Type (Default Progress, Binary, Number, Custom Percent, Euro, Dollar) | Key result unit: count, percentage, currency or duration, plus a direction | Binary goals become 0 to 1 counts |
| Starting, Target and Current Value | Start, target and current value | Current values that are weeks old |
| Progress Status | Status, recalculated from pacing | Old labels you'll want to compare once |
| Check-in Type (Auto Rollup, Manual, External Source) | Owners update in check-ins | Goals that fed from other tools |
| Review Cycle Weightage | Not carried; key result weights are a separate setting | Keep for HR |
| Tags and Milestones | Description text | Milestones you'd rather make key results |
All 12 fields shown.
Statuses in OKIAR
OKIAR's objective guide works status out from pacing, comparing real progress with where you should be by now. Owners can override it.
| Status | Rule |
|---|---|
| On track | Pacing of 0.7 or more |
| Behind | 0.4 to 0.69 |
| At risk | Under 0.4 |
| Not started, Closed, Abandoned | Set by hand |
Step 4: What changes for your integrations
Peoplebox has a Slack integration and a Microsoft Teams integration in beta. OKIAR has Slack and Telegram. It has no Teams app, so a Teams-only company will feel that.
Check-ins in Peoplebox could roll up automatically or come from an external source. In OKIAR, owners enter progress in check-ins, or an AI assistant does it for them over MCP. That connection follows each person's role and team permissions. It can create objectives, key results and KPIs, update a key result's current value and file a check-in.
Step 5: The first OKIAR check-in
- Pick a check-in day and template for each team.
- Owners answer by voice or text: progress, confidence from 0 to 10, and anything blocking them.
- Managers read the weekly summary instead of chasing updates.
- Insights shows pacing and repeat blockers after a few weeks.
Five prompts to start with are in our weekly check-in template.

Frequently asked questions
Can I export all my goals from Peoplebox?
We found no help article for that. The documented export is the Activity Logs CSV of goal changes. Ask support for a goals file, or read goals through the MCP server.
Is reading goals through MCP allowed?
It's a Peoplebox feature. An admin turns it on in Nova AI Settings, and the assistant only sees what your own account can see.
Will our review history come across?
No. OKIAR has no performance reviews. Keep review exports where HR can reach them.
Does OKIAR help with the move?
Migration help is available if you want it, while goal import and draft review also work self-serve.
What does OKIAR cost?
Nothing during the beta: no credit card, and no caps on objectives, key results, KPIs or members. There's no set end date for the beta, and Okiar is already live today. A Pro plan is listed as "TBD/seat/month".
