Weekdone migration: getting OKRs, weekly plans and weights out before you cancel
Facts checked October 27, 2026
Weekdone has a real export, but it's built for reports, not for handing your data to another app. The filter and export article in Weekdone's help center shows a PDF or XLS file for whichever level and quarter you pick, with optional key results, projects and comments. So the work is mostly choosing the right filters and running the report once per level.
There is one timing trap. Weekdone's terms of service say content "can be immediately deleted" when an admin cancels and can't be recovered. The same page also says data is stored for two years after termination unless you instruct otherwise. Don't test which sentence applies to you. Pull every file first, and cancel last.
The first two steps below work for any destination. Steps 3 to 5 cover rebuilding in OKIAR.
Before you start: map your levels and find a company admin
Weekdone sets OKRs on up to four levels: Company, Department, Team and Personal. The roles and rights article says Department is optional and Personal is switched off by default, so most accounts use two or three. Every report you export follows the level picked in the sidebar, which means one file per level unless you start at Company and expand all teams.
Write down three things before exporting anything:
- Which levels hold live objectives this quarter, and which teams sit under each department.
- Who your company admins are. Only an admin can export the user log, change rights or close the account.
- Whether anyone relies on key result weights. Weekdone stores a weight for each key result, and the plain report may not show it.
Step 1: Pick the Weekdone export that fits
| Export | Who runs it | Format | Contents | Use it for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Filtered OKR report | Anyone who can see the level | XLS or PDF | Objectives, and if you choose, key results, projects and comments | Your main import file |
| Single objective export | Anyone who can open the objective | XLS or PDF | One objective, its key results, linked projects and weekly items | Objectives with lots of linked work |
| Hierarchy (tree) view | Anyone | The picture of how objectives link across levels | Checking alignment after import | |
| User list and log | Company admins | CSV | Emails and last activity per person | Matching owners and spotting leavers |
| Weekdone API | A developer with an OAuth app | JSON | Objectives, key results with weights, comments, weekly items | Weights and comment history |
Filtered XLS report
Choose the level in the sidebar, then the quarter or the whole year. Click Filter and decide what goes in: status (on track, off track, at risk or exceeded), a progress range from 0 to 100%, and whether to show levels, charts, key results, projects and comments. Weekdone's own example sets Key Results to Expand all and Comments to All time, then picks XLS. Copy that for your migration file. If you skip filtering, the Export button on the Overview gives you a fixed report instead.
One objective at a time
Open an objective's details page from the Overview and use the Export icon in the top right. The help article lists what comes out with no filter options: the objective and its key results, projects under the objective, projects under each key result (XLS only) and weekly items linked to the objective. It's slow for a whole company, so keep it for the handful of objectives where the linked work matters.
Hierarchy view as PDF
The OKR Hierarchy view shows company objectives and the team OKRs linked under them. Weekdone's product updates page mentions a PDF export of the tree view. It isn't data you can import, but it's the best reference when you check alignment later.
User list and log
A company admin can open People & Teams, then People, More, and User log & export. The user log article says the CSV holds each user's email, last login, last OKR update, weekly plan counts and objectives this quarter. Use it to find owners who stopped logging in months ago.
The Weekdone API
Weekdone's API documentation uses OAuth 2.0 with the authorization code flow only. Someone registers an app on the Applications page, which every admin on your account can see, and access tokens expire after 60 minutes. The objective endpoint returns each objective's level, quarter (in YYYYQ form), progress and parent list. Each key result comes with its start value, maximum value, progress, weight from -4 to +4, last update time and comments. Separate endpoints return objective comments and weekly report items.
Without access to Weekdone
If your login is gone, ask a company admin to run the filtered report for you. With nothing to export at all, start fresh from OKIAR's OKR examples rather than retyping last quarter from memory.
Step 2: Check the Weekdone file
Weekdone's help doesn't list the XLS columns, and the example screenshot is the only guide. Open your file and look before trusting it.
Run four checks on every file you export:
- Count objectives and key results per level and compare them with the Overview for the same quarter.
- Make sure each row tells you its level and team. Add a column if a file came from one team's sidebar view.
- Compare owners with the user log, and flag anyone who has left or gone quiet.
- Note what's missing. If weights or comments aren't in the XLS, decide whether you need the API for them.
Weekly Plans (the Plans, Progress and Problems lists) aren't OKRs, and the OKR report won't carry them in full. Keep the weekly items you care about in a separate archive.

Step 3: Load this quarter into OKIAR
OKIAR's sign-up docs describe a goal import that reads spreadsheets (multi-sheet Excel included), CSV, PDF, Word, text and Markdown, up to 5 MB per file. It helps map people, teams and parent links for you to review, and it works during sign-up or any time afterwards. What you get is a draft plan to correct before anything goes live.
Here is the order we'd follow with a Weekdone XLS:
- Sign up for the free beta at okiar.app/signup. No card is needed.
- Save each level's XLS as a sheet in one workbook, keep it under 5 MB, and upload it. Read through the draft before accepting it.
- Recreate the reporting lines: company objectives at the top, then departments, then teams.
- Invite people with the right role. OKIAR has four: Admin, Manager, Contributor and Viewer.
- Re-enter each key result's weight. OKIAR supports weighting, and Weekdone allowed negative weights, so agree what those meant first.
- Turn Weekdone KPIs into OKIAR KPIs, which keep their value history from now on.
- Hook up Slack so check-in reminders reach people.
- Open the tree, team and person views and compare them with the Hierarchy PDF.
Where each Weekdone field goes in OKIAR
| Weekdone field | OKIAR field | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Level (Company, Department, Team, Personal) | Nesting and team | Personal OKRs you may not want to bring |
| Objective description | Objective title | Long descriptions used as titles |
| Quarter (YYYYQ) or annual | Period, including fiscal-quarter labels | Annual objectives running beside quarterly ones |
| Key result text | Key result title | Task lists written as key results |
| Start value and maximum value | Start and target | Results where lower is better need a direction |
| Key result type, % by default | Unit: count, percentage, currency or duration | Types that don't fit those four |
| Progress | Current value | Progress that was a manual guess |
| Weight (-4 to +4) | Key result weight | Negative weights |
| Parent list | Parent link | Objectives linked to more than one parent |
| Status label | Status from pacing | Exceeded results |
| Comments | Check-in notes or your archive | Comment threads you still need |
| Projects and weekly items | Your archive | Projects still running |
All 12 fields shown.
How OKIAR decides status
Weekdone's status labels don't need to come across. OKIAR's objective docs compare actual progress with where you should be by now. A ratio of 0.7 and up shows On track, 0.4 to 0.69 shows Behind, and anything lower shows At risk. Owners can still set a status by hand and add a confidence score between 0 and 10 when they check in.
Step 4: Swap out Weekdone integrations
Weekdone's API page points to a Zapier integration, and its Google Sheets integration pushes values in. Neither connection moves with the export.
| Weekdone | OKIAR |
|---|---|
| Google Sheets and Zapier values feeding key results | Owners type the new value at check-in |
| Weekly Plans (Plans, Progress, Problems) | Weekly check-ins that ask about progress, confidence and blockers |
| Slack and Microsoft Teams notifications | Slack in channels and DMs, or Telegram in DMs; there's no Teams app |
| REST API | An MCP server for AI assistants |
The MCP page lists 14 tools. They can record a check-in, change a key result's value or create objectives, though the import in Step 3 is the faster setup route.
Step 5: Replace the weekly plan with a check-in
Weekdone teams already have a weekly habit, which makes this the easy part. Keep the same day.
- Pick a check-in day per team that matches the old weekly plan deadline.
- Ask owners for a number, a confidence score and anything blocking them.
- Give managers a few minutes in their team meeting to read the summary.
- After a month, review pacing in Insights before the mid-quarter check.
When the first round is in and nobody needs Weekdone open, ask your admin to cancel. Their account deletion article says an admin removes the other users first, and the company account closes when the last admin deletes themselves.

Frequently asked questions
Can I export all my Weekdone OKRs in one file?
Pick the Company level, click Expand All so every team's objectives show, then export XLS. Check that each team made it into the file, and run a separate report for any level that's missing.
Does the Weekdone XLS include comments?
It can. In the Filter window, set Comments to All time before you pick XLS. Without that setting, assume comments are left out.
Will key result weights carry over?
Weekdone's API returns a weight from -4 to +4 for each key result. The help article doesn't say the XLS includes it, so note weights from the API or the app and set them in OKIAR.
What happens to my data after I cancel Weekdone?
The terms say content can be deleted right away at cancellation, and elsewhere mention two years of storage after termination. Export first so the answer doesn't matter.
Can OKIAR read a Weekdone XLS?
Yes. Goal import accepts spreadsheets, multi-sheet Excel files included, up to 5 MB. It turns them into a draft plan with owners, teams and parent links that you edit before accepting.
How much does OKIAR cost?
Nothing while it's in beta. OKIAR's free beta needs no card, has no announced end date, and your Okiar is already live today.
