15Five migration: export objectives from your filtered view and rebuild the tree

Facts checked October 27, 2026

In 15Five, objectives sit beside weekly check-ins, 1-on-1s, High Fives and reviews. That mix matters when you leave, because only one of those is an OKR. This guide covers the objectives and tells you what to do with the rest.

The export itself is quick. 15Five's Download filtered objectives article describes a CSV or XLSX of whatever is showing on the All Objectives page. The catch is in the columns: parents are named by title, there's no objective ID, and the file is only as complete as your filters.

Before you start: plan around the filtered view

The export works on the Perform, Legacy Focus and Total Platform packages. On 15Five's pricing, Perform is $11 per user per month and Total Platform $16, both billed annually, so check your renewal date too. You need Objectives switched on and a role with export access; if the menu option is missing, your account admin can check permissions.

Sort out four things first:

  • Who exports. Since the file contains only what's visible, an admin or HR admin who sees every objective should do it.
  • Which date range. Decide how far back you need. Most teams move the current period and keep older files as an archive.
  • Duplicate titles. Child objectives point at parents by Parent Objective Title. Two parents called "Grow revenue" will confuse any import. Rename them in 15Five before exporting.
  • The non-OKR data. Weekly check-ins, 1-on-1 notes, High Fives and reviews aren't objectives. Ask HR what has to be kept.

Which 15Five export can you get?

A few yes-or-no questions, based on the 15Five help articles cited above.

Question 1

Can you see Objectives in your 15Five navigation?

Export from All Objectives

Click Objectives in the left navigation, apply filters, and confirm that the summary shows the objectives you expect. Then open the menu at the top right and choose Export as CSV/XLSX. The file downloads at once.

Each row includes Objective Title, the owner's first name, last name, email, employee ID and active groups, the manager's name and email, Type, Department, Start Date, End Date, Parent Objective Title, Impacts Parent Progress, privacy settings, groups and emails that can view it, Status, plus all key result and child objective information.

Either format works for the import below.

Reports for checking

Under Insights Dashboard, Reports, Explore in the Objectives box, 15Five has Status, Ownership and Alignment tabs, and each one downloads as CSV or XLSX. The Alignment report counts aligned and unaligned objectives and has a nested view with children under their parents. Its Objective state filter can include archived objectives. Download it next to the main export: it's your answer key when you check the tree later.

If 15Five renamed it

15Five notes that some organizations rename the Objectives feature. If you can't find it in the navigation, ask your admin what it's called in your account.

Check-ins, High Fives and reviews

These stay out of an OKR move. If you're ending the whole contract, export them on their own timeline and store them where HR keeps people records.

Step 2: Check the 15Five file

The filter is the thing to doubt. A forgotten owner or status filter quietly drops rows, and the export gives no warning.

Before you plan the move, open the file and confirm:

  1. The row count matches the Objectives summary with filters cleared, or with only a date filter.
  2. Every Parent Objective Title matches exactly one objective in the file.
  3. Owner Email values belong to current employees.
  4. You know which objectives have Impacts Parent Progress set, and which are private.

If a parent title is missing, the parent was probably filtered out. Widen the filter and export again.

Step 3: Rebuild the 15Five objectives in OKIAR

OKIAR's goal import takes the XLSX or CSV directly. It reads spreadsheets, multi-sheet Excel files included, CSV, PDF, Word, text, Markdown, up to 5 MB, and helps map people, teams and parent links for you to review. Because 15Five links parents by title, unique titles make that step reliable. You can import while signing up or later.

A sensible order:

  1. Make a free account at okiar.app/signup.
  2. Upload the current period's export.
  3. Review the draft tree. Parent Objective Title should become a parent link.
  4. Reapply key result weights. In 15Five, weights default to an equal split and must total 100%. OKIAR supports weighted key results too, so copy over only the custom ones.
  5. Add managers as extra owners only where they really share the result.
  6. Turn Department and Owner Active Groups into OKIAR teams.
  7. Choose the period. Custom periods fit 15Five start and end dates that don't match quarters.

How OKIAR reports status

OKIAR works out status from pacing, as its objective docs explain: 0.7 or more of the expected progress is On track, 0.4 to 0.69 is Behind, and under 0.4 is At risk. Owners set Not started, Closed or Abandoned. Every check-in includes a confidence score from 0 to 10.

Step 4: Swap the integrations

15Five's integrations page lists Jira among its connections, and it has several Microsoft Teams integrations, including 15Five AI for Teams notifications.

Step 5: The first OKIAR check-in

15Five teams already have a weekly rhythm. Move objective updates onto it: on the usual check-in day, owners record a value, confidence and any blocker in OKIAR. Keep 15Five's weekly check-in questions where they are if you're staying for reviews, or retire them with the contract. Once a week of numbers matches, store the export with your records.
