Mooncamp migration: how to export your goals and rebuild your OKRs somewhere else

Facts checked October 27, 2026

Mooncamp's FAQ says it "does not currently offer a public API, but it is on our immediate roadmap." Until that ships, a developer can't pull your whole account in one go. Your way out is the CSV export, run from the right page with the right cycles selected.

This guide covers where Mooncamp's exports work, what to check in the file, and how to rebuild. The export and file checks in Steps 1 and 2 hold for any destination. From Step 3 on, the guide rebuilds your current Mooncamp cycle in OKIAR.

Before you start: cycles, filters and the 30-day window

Mooncamp's export follows what's on screen. Its export guide tells you to "apply filters first", and its cycles guide explains that the cycle picker decides which goals a view shows. Goals that aren't in a selected cycle won't be in your file.

Do three things this week:

  1. Decide which cycles you need. Select all of them in the cycle picker, or export each one separately, and show the cycle as a column so you can tell them apart.
  2. Ask Mooncamp support, at support@mooncamp.com, for anything you can't export yourself, such as check-in history and comments. The FAQ names that address as the way to cancel or delete your account.
  3. Plan your dates. The FAQ says that after account deletion, "your data is retained for 30 days before being permanently removed." Export before you ask for deletion.

Step 1: Work out which Mooncamp export you have

Mooncamp exports PDF, PNG and CSV files, but not every format works on every page.

Which Mooncamp export can you get?

A few yes-or-no questions, based on the Mooncamp help articles cited above.

Question 1

Can someone at your company still log in to Mooncamp?

Goal list CSV

Open the page with the widest goal list you can see. Click the "..." button in the top right corner, choose Export, then pick CSV in the format dropdown and click Export. Mooncamp's guide lists Home Goals, Teamspace Goals, Goal Explorer and Planning as pages that support CSV.

Set your filters and cycles before you click. If your account has several teamspaces, export from a page that shows all of them, or export each teamspace and keep the files together.

Bulk select and dashboard cards

Bulk select exports at most 10 goals, so it can't replace a full export. A goal-list card on a dashboard exports its own CSV from the card's menu, which helps if a card already shows exactly the list you need.

PDF and PNG snapshots

Dashboards and goal detail pages export only as PDF or PNG, with a layout from Narrow (A4) to Extra wide. They're useful for the record but can't be imported as data.

If you have no file

Without a CSV, work from the PDFs people saved and the slides from your last cycle review. If you'd rather start fresh, copy a template from the 16 team sets in OKIAR's OKR examples.

Step 2: Check what your file contains

Mooncamp's export guide doesn't list the columns in a CSV, or say whether check-in history or comments are included. What its docs do say:

  • The CSV holds goal data from the view you export, after filters.
  • Goals can be Objectives, Key Results or custom goal types such as Initiatives.
  • Each goal has properties, including cycle, parent alignment and owner, plus any custom properties your admins added.

Before you plan the move, check four things:

  1. Count the goals in the file by type, and compare the totals with what the page showed for the same cycles and filters.
  2. Check that every key result shows its parent objective. Mooncamp lets a goal align to more than one parent, so note any that do.
  3. Look for owners who have left the company. Mooncamp's FAQ says deleted users' data is "preserved but anonymized", so watch for blank or anonymized owners.
  4. Look for check-ins and comments. The docs don't say the CSV includes them, so assume it doesn't until you see them.

Is your export ready to import?

Tick the four checks as you do them and enter your file size.

  • Still to do: Goal counts by type match the page for the same cycles and filters
  • Still to do: Every key result shows its parent objective (multi-aligned goals noted)
  • Still to do: Owners who have left, or anonymized owners, are flagged
  • Still to do: I looked for check-ins and comments (and know whether they’re there)

Moving to a tool other than OKIAR

Whichever vendor you pick, have them import a sample of your Mooncamp CSV before you sign. Their import rules as of October 27, 2026:

  • Perdoo's goal import lists Mooncamp CSV as a source. The file has to stay under 5 MB and 10,000 rows, and it leaves updates, comments and check-ins behind.
  • Tability's AI importer maps an XLSX or CSV file of up to 10 MB without a set template, but you add the users and teams yourself.
  • Atlassian Goals still has no bulk upload, so each goal is typed in.

For prices and import options side by side, see our Mooncamp alternatives page, which covers eight tools.

Step 3: Rebuild your current quarter in OKIAR

Upload the Mooncamp CSV as it is. The sign-up guide accepts files of up to 5 MB, and the import holds on to owners, teams and parent links. Run it while you create the account or later from inside OKIAR. You get a draft to edit first: fix any objective, key result, start value or target, then accept.

Bring over the live cycle only. The Mooncamp CSV stays your record of past cycles.

  1. Create your account. The beta plan is free, needs no card and doesn't limit team members.
  2. Upload the current cycle's CSV. If the full file passes 5 MB, export that cycle alone. Go through each proposed objective and key result before accepting.
  3. Match the imported teams to your Mooncamp teamspaces. Invite people with one of four roles: Admin, Manager, Contributor or Viewer.
  4. Confirm that Mooncamp's parent alignment now shows as team objectives sitting under company ones.
  5. Look at every key result's unit, start, current value and target.
  6. Turn always-on metrics like revenue or churn into KPIs instead of key results.
  7. Connect Slack.
  8. Put the objective, team and person views next to the CSV and correct any owner or link that differs.

Statuses in OKIAR

Leave Mooncamp's statuses behind. Its goal statuses are customizable, so yours may not match the defaults anyway. OKIAR works status out from pacing: the objective guide describes it as a goal's progress set against where it should be at this point in the quarter. You can override the result.

Pacing ratioStatus OKIAR shows
0.7 and upOn track
0.4 to 0.69Behind
Under 0.4At risk
No ratio usedNot started, Closed and Abandoned, which you pick yourself

If you rebuild a goal that's already finished, set Closed for Mooncamp's Achieved, Partial or Missed, and Abandoned for Dropped. Owners can also log a confidence score from 0 to 10 in each check-in.

Step 4: Replace your Mooncamp data integrations

Mooncamp's FAQ lists data integrations with Jira, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Salesforce, HubSpot and more, which update goals automatically. Its pricing page lists Slack and Microsoft Teams on all plans. None of those connections come with your file.

Slack and Microsoft TeamsSlack channels and DMs, or Telegram. There's no Teams app
No public APIMCP access for AI assistants, limited to what your role can see

Through MCP, an assistant like Claude can post a check-in or change a key result's current value with any of 14 tools. It can create objectives, key results and KPIs. Nothing syncs from Mooncamp's data integrations after the move, so warn owners that the numbers are now theirs to enter.

Step 5: Run the first check-in

Run a check-in in week one, before the details of the move fade.

  • Pick a check-in day and template for each team.
  • Owners report progress, confidence and blockers, typed or spoken.
  • Go over the weekly summary at the following team meeting.
  • A few weeks in, look at Insights for pacing, confidence and blockers that keep coming back.
  • Adjust the plan at the mid-quarter review.

Frequently asked questions

Can I export my goals from Mooncamp?

Yes. Open Home Goals, Teamspace Goals, Goal Explorer or Planning, click "..." in the top right corner, choose Export, then CSV. Set the cycle picker and filters first, because the file follows the view.

Does Mooncamp have an API?

Not yet. Mooncamp's FAQ says it "does not currently offer a public API, but it is on our immediate roadmap."

Does the CSV include check-ins and comments?

Mooncamp's export guide doesn't say. Check your file. If the history matters, ask support@mooncamp.com what they can provide before you cancel.

How long does Mooncamp keep our data?

The FAQ says that after account deletion, your data is retained for 30 days before being permanently removed. Cancellation and deletion both go through support@mooncamp.com.

Can OKIAR import my Mooncamp file?

Yes. Upload the CSV, up to 5 MB, when you sign up or any time after. Owners, teams and parent links come through, and you review the draft plan before accepting it.

What does OKIAR cost?

Nothing during the beta: no card, and no limits on objectives, key results, KPIs or people. The beta has no end date, and Okiar is already live today. The coming Pro plan is listed as "TBD/seat/month".
