Ally.io alternatives: where Ally.io customers went after Viva Goals closed
Facts checked October 27, 2026
Ally.io had two lives. Microsoft bought it on October 7, 2021 and rebuilt it as Viva Goals. Then Microsoft retired Viva Goals on December 31, 2025 and offered no successor. On October 27, 2026, ally.io still forwarded to Microsoft's Viva Goals page.
So the people searching for Ally.io today are mostly former customers who got moved into Microsoft and then out again. The good news is that the market noticed. The founders started a new company, and several OKR vendors now publish discounts or free migration help for Viva Goals refugees. This page compares the seven tools that ex-Ally.io teams are choosing between. Prices are as published on October 27, 2026.
What happened to Ally.io
- 2018: Ally.io launches. By the time of the sale, Microsoft says, it had more than 1,000 customers in over 80 countries.
- October 7, 2021: Microsoft announces the purchase for its Viva platform and promises existing customers "the same great support and service." TechCrunch reported that Ally.io had raised $76 million.
- May 16, 2022: Viva Goals is announced in private preview, led by Ally.io founder Vetri Vellore.
- December 5, 2024: Microsoft stops adding Viva Goals features.
- December 31, 2025: The service is retired. Microsoft's advice was to export through the API, Excel or PowerPoint before that date.
Tability's shutdown tracker calls this "two forced migrations in four years."
Why Ally.io teams can't simply go back
There's no Ally.io product left to return to. Microsoft folded it into Viva, and Viva Goals is gone. What that means in practice:
- Your goals live in an export, if you made one. Anything not saved as Excel, PowerPoint or JSON before the retirement date is hard to recover. Microsoft's page tells customers whose subscription ran past that date to contact their Microsoft representative.
- Microsoft 365 habits stay. Most Ally.io customers became Viva Goals customers inside Teams. A replacement that ignores Teams will feel like a step back.
- Trust is lower. After two moves, many teams weigh vendor stability as heavily as features.
What Ally.io got right
When Microsoft bought it, Microsoft's own announcement said customers found Ally.io "flexible, easy to use with quick time-to-value" and valued "its broad set of integrations with existing work systems." It also promised to "evolve the existing integrations with Microsoft Teams." Viva Goals kept that core and put it inside Teams.
That gives you a fair test for any replacement. Load your real goals and check three things: how quickly someone can post a weekly update, whether key results can pull numbers from the tools your team already uses, and whether the alignment view from company goals to teams is one people will open.
There's no "stay" option here, but there is a "stay with the people" option. If what you valued was Ally.io's team and philosophy, look first at Rhythms.

Seven tools ex-Ally.io customers are choosing
Rhythms
Rhythms is the founders' second act. Its resource library FAQ says it was built by the team behind Ally.io, that founder Vetri Vellore wrote "OKRs for All," and that it raised $26 million from Accel, Greenoaks and Madrona. The same FAQ claims that moving from WorkBoard, Viva Goals or spreadsheets "takes minutes."
It's not Ally.io again, though. The Rhythms home page sells "AI that helps run the company": goals sit next to business reviews, playbooks and risk alerts. Pricing in the FAQ starts at $12 per user per month on Pro, $28 on Business, with a 14-day trial. There's a Slack app, but the Teams app was marked "coming soon" when we checked, which matters if you lived in Viva inside Teams. Our Rhythms alternatives page looks at it in depth.
Teamflect
For a team that used Viva Goals inside Microsoft Teams, Teamflect is the closest feel. Its Viva Goals page offers "a 25% discount and free migration assistance," and says its OKR experts will migrate your goals for you. Admins can also bulk upload goals from Excel, with a parent goal ID column for alignment.
Teamflect's pricing runs from a free Starter plan for up to 10 users to Essential at $7 per user per month annually ($9 monthly) and Professional at $11 ($14). Performance reviews come in the same product. Slack isn't listed, so a Slack-first team should look elsewhere.
Mooncamp
Mooncamp's Viva Goals comparison offers a "Free Migration Service (limited spots)" for eligible organizations, so ask early. Its plans are €7 per user per month on Essential and €10 on Professional, billed annually with a 5-user minimum, per Mooncamp's pricing.
Slack and Microsoft Teams come with every plan. Mooncamp focuses on goals and check-ins, so it's a straight swap for the Viva Goals core rather than a bigger platform.
Atlassian Goals
Atlassian built a Viva Goals importer. You export JSON from the Viva admin panel, keep the files unedited, and open a ticket with Atlassian Support, who run the import. Goals and Projects are included at no additional cost with Atlassian apps.
Know the trade-offs. Atlassian Goals supports one parent per goal, so a Viva goal aligned to several parents keeps only one. All goals are visible to everyone in the organization for now. It suits a company already running Jira, less so one that lived in Microsoft Teams.
Perdoo
Perdoo works for a team that wants to rebuild from its Viva export without a sales process. Its import feature takes a CSV or text you paste, with AI turning pasted text into goals.
Perdoo's pricing has a free plan for up to 5 users, then Premium from €8.00 per user per month under 25 users down to €6.40 at 100, and Supreme from €10.00 down to €8.00; quarterly terms cost 10% more. Teams and Slack are on every plan. Data export starts on Premium.
Tability
If your admin saved the Viva Excel export, Tability's AI importer can read it: XLSX or CSV up to 10 MB, with nothing created until you confirm. It matches people by email address, so keep that column.
On Tability's pricing page, Basic is $6 per user per month billed yearly ($7 monthly) with Slack, Teams, Jira and Linear, and Premium $10 ($12). There's a 14-day trial.
OKIAR
OKIAR is the do-it-yourself route for a team holding a Viva export. You can upload a spreadsheet or CSV of up to 5 MB at sign-up or later, including a multi-sheet Excel file, and OKIAR helps map people, teams and parent links for you to review. You review the draft before it goes live.
OKIAR's beta is free with no card and no caps on objectives, key results, KPIs or team members, and the beta has no set end date. People check in weekly by voice or text, and an AI summary arrives each week. It works in Slack and Telegram and has an MCP connection for Claude or Codex. For an ex-Viva team, the honest gap is Microsoft Teams: OKIAR has no Teams app.
What you can still take with you
Look for the Excel, PowerPoint or JSON files your admin saved before December 31, 2025. JSON is what Atlassian's importer wants; Excel is what OKIAR, Tability and Perdoo can read. If your contract ran past retirement, Microsoft says to contact your Microsoft representative. Our Ally.io migration guide shows how to rebuild from those files, our Viva Goals migration guide explains each export, and our Viva Goals alternatives page covers the wider market.
