The build-vs-buy argument
Monday's OKR templates give you a starting point, but they require real configuration: formula columns for progress calculations, linked boards for team-to-company OKR alignment, automations for reminders, custom dashboards for the leadership view. A skilled ops person can build a reasonable OKR system in Monday in a day. The question is whether it's better to build or buy.
The build approach has an advantage: you get something configured exactly for your team's language and workflow. The downside is maintenance. OKR systems in Monday drift — columns get added, automations break, the formula someone built in Q2 doesn't account for the new sub-team structure in Q4. Someone has to own it.
